NT Overview  Week 07
Overview : Aspects of the Teachings of Jesus Christ

Jesus has been called the Master Teacher by many.

His teaching methods were similar to and yet contrasted the teachers of his day. As you read and study this week keep in mind from your previous study the characteristics of the religious leaders of the New Testament time. You should begin to see the similarities and differences.

Seven Characteristics of Jesus Teachings

You will find many references in the DSM text. You are not required to read all of the scripture references. However, it would be good to read a representative number of them. Example: under IV Themes of other Parables you find 11 references under E. Kingdom. You need only read one. I suppose as a student you have to answer the question, "The shortest or longest  passage."

REMEMBER, in any class your goal should not be to get by with as little as   possible, but to learn.

Jesus lived in a world of contrasts.   The Roman and Greek cultures impacted every aspect of society. The religious leadership and the traditions conflicted with many of the teachings of the Torah through their interpretations of the Torah.

Jesus entered this setting. He taught the people. He went about changing the way people thought/believed about God, truth, man, sin, many other subjects.

Metzger's text is quite involved this week. Please, reflect this detail in your outline and summary.
