How to use this reading plan

You may begin Dr. Hastings' plan for reading through the Bible at any time. You will need to keep up with the day your are reading.

The reading are divided into 52 separate topics which will provide you with an overview of the Bible. You will be pointed to a variety of passages that help give you an overview of the whole Bible.

Each topic has 7 days of readings associated with the topic. Each topic has a OVERVIEW/SUMMARY of the material covered in that particular reading.

The reading are arranged into 365 separate readings with a Brief and Full reading for each day.

Two options are available for reading:

• Print the list of readings and read from your Bible either or both:
  • Brief Reading
  • Full Reading
• Use the online passage readings. 
  By clicking the passage in the panel to the right you will see the passage displayed in this panel and you may read either or both:
  • Brief Reading
  • Full Reading

The purpose of this reading plan:

• Is to give an understanding of the orderly development of God's purpose in the history of man.

• To trace "the course of all things accurately from the first…that thou mightest know the certainty concerning the things wherein thou wast instructed."

During reading

• Mark your Bible: key passages.

• Make cross-reference to related passages.

• Use as many modern translations as possible.

• If you miss some days do not look back.

• Too much "catch-up" reading will give you spiritual indigestion.

• Remember, Jesus quoted from the Old Testament,
  "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart."

How to use this reading plan

• Frames capable is browser required

• Screen divided into three panels

  • BANNER - Top panel which will display the next, previous, and full list of "52 Topics."

  • VERSELIST Panel - Panel to the right displays the passes to read. You need only to click the verse  you want to read for it to display in the MAIN view area

  • MAIN panel - displays

    • The "52" Summaries

    • The online passage

• Translation: The RSV is displayed initially however you may select from several translations provided by Bible Gateway.

• Navigation:

  • You may step through the reading clicking the next topic in the banner panel

  • You may JUMP to any of the "52" topics by using the drop down menu in the Banner panel
